The feeder is suitable for both dogs and cats and will accommodate a total capacity of 4.4 Lbs of dry grain. It also allows one to record a personal voice message (12 seconds) that alerts the pet when food is dispensed. This product is made from a durable ABS material that is environmentally safe and socially responsible. The new Diamond Series automatic pet feeder is much improved and will permit you to sleep in longer than your pet would otherwise be likely to let you. The new design does indeed deliver reasonably accurately 1/4 cup of kibble, but you have to push the feeder gate down all the way on the inside of the storage ball BEFORE you fill it with kibble. The programming for timing of feedings is stupid and badly explained, but there is an easy work around. If you want 12 hours between two feedings, as an example, first set the clock so that it reads NOT the current time, but rather the difference between the current time and the time of first feeding (hours:minutes); then set the first feeding to 00:01 (i.e., one minute into a 24 hour cycle) and then select two feedings per 24 hour day. More specifically, if you want your cat to be fed at 6 am and 6 pm and the current time when you are entering this program into the feeder is 9:05 am, set the clock to 3:05, set the first feeding to 00:01,... I bought this machine bc it promised a 1/4 cup dispensation of dry food which other machines can't quite get (lowest is 1/3) and I liked that it has a water bowl attached. It is smaller than the other automatic feeders i have purchased and has a nice shape. I was very upset to see almost 1/2 cup come out on the lowest setting. Also, you can see into the food storage area so my cats will eventually find the openings on both sides of the adjuster inside the grain container giving them free access to food all day. Also, it only gives you the option of a 24 hour clock and you can't choose when the food is dispensed...the machine chooses based on number of meals selected and according to when the first meal is selected...evenly dispensed over the 24 hour period....i can't choose 6am and 5pm. or 6am, noon, 5pm. I will be returning this product and keeping the one I had to rig to release 1/4 cup and can't quite get it right(she gets shorted or gets too much but can't get free access all... Read more |
